This farm is a family.

Four generations have grown sweet corn, peaches, and pies for the Tri-State — from the 4th Street Farmers Market to the porch on St. Joseph Avenue.

Who we are

Homegrown, and still handed down.

Vance and Minnie Belle Mayse began in 1940 at the 4th Street Farmers Market in downtown Evansville. In 1977 their son Paul, with Sherrill, opened the farm market on St. Joseph Avenue — tomatoes, green beans, squash, and the crop everyone waited for: sweet corn.

At Christmas 2005 the market burned to the ground. They rebuilt the same year and were back in business by May 2006. Today the farm is in its fourth generation.

“Serving homegrown freshness to the community for over 8 decades; and now 4 generations!”

A regular at the market

Libby, the farm dog.

If you have been here, you have probably met her. She sits for portraits, rides the mule, and wears the apron when asked.

Come visit the farm.

We want to sincerely thank our most loyal customers for your continued business over the years.

The corn is still coming in from the field, the bakery is still warm, and the family is still here.
